FAIRFAX, Va. -- Employees of Edelman Financial are driving to work for free this week.

Company founder and Chairman Ric Edelman has designated June 16-20 “Drive to Work for Free Week” and has given each employee a $50 gasoline card. The thankful Edelman employees are welcome to use the card whenever they wish.

“With so much concern about gas prices, I wanted to do something to help, especially as we enter the summer vacation season,” said Edelman. This is the second time Edelman has staged a “Drive to Work for Free Week.” The previous one was declared in 2004. The company has a reputation of being an outstanding employer, offering high quality benefits and fun and innovative activities for its staff. The firm has been named one of the Washington D.C. region’s “Great Places to Work” three consecutive times by Washingtonian magazine.

Earlier this year, Edelman Financial observed one of its famous “stress down days,” with employees gathering in conference rooms to play board and video games. The company also gives each employee a half-day off every other Friday throughout the summer and a paid four-week sabbatical after six years of service. And each employee receives a Rolex watch upon his or her 10th anniversary with the company.

The 170-employee company is based in Fairfax, Va., with additional offices in Bethesda, Md., and Alexandria and Richmond, Va.
